Virtual Telehealth Appointments EDMONTON
WE GOT YOUR BACK!
We have introduced virtual telehealth physiotherapy appointments so that you can continue to take positive steps towards your health goals during this period of self-isolation and social distancing.
“As one door closes another door opens”. This is a simple but true concept that we can see play out in many different ways during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Isolation is our current reality but living with pain is not! Granville Physiotherapy practitioners have a wealth of knowledge and can help you get out of pain and back on track with your physical health goals via virtual health consultations.
If you are in pain, have an old injury that nags you, want to get stronger or are simply looking for advice for your new home workstation, we are here to help! Anyone who would seek out a physiotherapist, chiropractor and/or naturopathic doctor in clinic would be an excellent patient for virtual telehealth appointments.
Our health care professionals have many years of education and experience. This wealth of knowledge is what they share with you to get you better. Our hands on approach may not be accessible, however we can still understand your condition and tell you what you can do to make it better.
It is really simple. First, you can book an appointment by contacting us by phone or email.
Once you have booked an appointment, you will receive a video link from your practitioner via email. Next, at the time of the appointment you will click the link in the email and join the call. This will setup a secure video conferencing session where you will be able to talk face-to-face with your health care practitioner.
On the call, your health care practitioner will ask you a series of questions to better understand your symptoms. They may ask you to move and question what that does to your symptoms. Once they understand what is causing your pain and the factors influencing it, they will explain it to you. Next, your practitioner will provide you with advice and encouragement to help manage your pain. This may include, educating you on what postures or positions to avoid and the ones that will help you feel better. Lastly, your practitioner will formulate and walk you through an exercise program that you can use to actively work towards your recovery.
If you are booking a virtual telehealth appointment, you will require the following:
- Internet connection
- Device with a camera and audio capabilities (computer, tablet or smart phone)
- An open space that you can move around in for exercises. Your practitioner will be creative to use the resources you have if indicated.
A telehealth session with one of our experienced Granville physiotherapists will help you start on the path to recovery immediately, rather than waiting to come into the clinic. Your body has amazing capabilities to heal but it also needs the right forces being applied to the tissue. This can be achieved from posture and exercises, however knowing the right ones to do is hard for you to figure out on your own. Speaking with an expert will empower you to know what to do, what not to do and how often to do it. If your symptoms are concerning and you want to know if you need to see a doctor, your therapist will help you make that decision.
We do not know how long this period of self-isolation will last but what we do know is the body adapts quickly. If you hold off in treating your pain there is a strong possibility it will get worse over time and compensations, weakness, and poor motor patterns will happen. Understanding and taking control of your pain or injury at early stages is always the right approach.
Majority of insurance providers cover this service. Manulife, Sunlife and Blue Cross all cover this under their standard physiotherapy, chiropractic and naturopath benefits. Green Shield is one insurance company that currently does not cover this type of session. We are advocating to try to get every insurance provider on board!
If you are concerned about coverage it is always best to call your insurance provider and confirm your coverage before booking your virtual telehealth session.
We offer direct billing to your extended health benefits plan for patients who qualify. For any remaining balance owing we offer secure online payments via Stripe through our booking software platform.
